RCFR PROJECTION: This midseason projection is based exclusively on RCFR rankings. The top 12 teams qualify, and the four highest-ranked teams receive first-round byes. First-round games are hosted by the higher seeds.

2026 CFP QUALIFICATION RULES: The official playoff guarantees bids to the ACC, Big Ten, Big 12 and SEC champions, plus the highest-ranked team from the American, Conference USA, MAC, Mountain West, Pac-12 or Sun Belt. Notre Dame also qualifies automatically if ranked in the final CFP Top 12. These automatic qualification rules are not applied to this RCFR-only projection because the final qualifiers have not yet been determined.

Official CFP seeding follows the final committee rankings, with the top four seeds receiving byes and no reseeding after the bracket is set. This RCFR bracket is an independent resume-based comparison, not the official CFP field.
